Life of a Haute Couture Connoisseur

As a Style Expert and Haute Couture Connoisseur, each January and July I attend the Haute Couture shows in Paris, where crème-de-la-crème creations from the most famous fashion houses in the world are exhibited. Haute Couture is all about the creation of dreams. Watching these fashion shows is a magical experience that brings dreams to life. However, it is becoming a haute couture fashion client, and experiencing the exclusive process first hand, that is truly a dream come true.

As a fashion lover, nothing could excite me more than haute couture. I truly respect the innovative designers and fashion houses that meet the strict criteria required to qualify as a true haute couture label. They are coveted for their commitment to exclusivity and creating a fashion dream that is chased by so many worldwide. Haute couture is special because it is an expression of true love for fashion. These labels throw commonsense in the wind and create uniquely lavish garments, which disregard everything but their vision of a truly luxurious and unique fashion that is exquisitely original.

Of these haute couture fashion houses, Christian Dior’s John Galliano stands out in my mind as one of the most visionary designers. He truly is a genius. His last show in July was at L’Orangerie at the Chateaux de Versailles, and the midsummer’s night dream theme romantically showed outrageous yet magnificent works of art. In true haute couture fashion, they were impractically perfect. Although extraordinarily unconventional, Galliano’s imagination and intoxicating creativity were vividly expressed, giving the audience a taste of what will trickle down to the prêt-a-porter.

Other haute couture fashion houses that top my list are Chanel, whose designer Karl Lagerfeld continually enamors me with his ageless and timelessly chic creations. From last July another memorable show was Christian Lacroix. I always look forward to this show, as I, as a Haute Couture Connoisseur, find Lacroix truly appreciates and exploits the uniqueness of haute couture. It is through this line, and his fabulous shows, that I find his creativity most mesmerizing.
